Withington's Church Bells

Withington's St John the Baptist church contains what are believed to be the oldest bells in North Shropshire, dating to circa 1270. According to data published on the website of the Shropshire Association of Church Bellringers, the exact date of the bells is a "matter of some conjecture", however in 1984 Ranald Clouston inspected the bells and dated them at circa 1270.

According to H B Walters, writing in Church Bells of Shropshire, "both bells are small and of early 'long-waisted' type; devoid of any inscription, and possibly dating from the fourteenth century."
