The Hare and Hounds, Withington

2017 marks the 21st year that the Buswell family have been running the Hare & Hounds!

Once again there will be a number of events to raise funds for charity.

The first was a pub quiz that raised £62 divided between The British Heart Foundation and St John the Baptist church.

The second will be the second Great Buswell Bake Off on Saturday 25th February, so get your recipe books out and your oven gloves ready! Will Anita repeat her triumph from 2016?

Details of other events will appear here and in the pub.

The Hare & Hounds is Withington’s lively and popular village pub. Food is served on Friday and  Sunday lunchtime, with roasts and traditional pub meals being the speciality.

The gent's toilet has some unusual and amusing murals...

These were painted a few years ago and feature regulars of the time.

There was a threat that these would be removed which upset regulars and featured in the Shropshire Star http://www.shropshirestar.com/latest/2007/06/29/red-card-looms-for-pub-mural/ (opens in a new window)

The Hare & Hounds Rounders team, superbly captained by Dave "safe hands" Buswell, won the Sunday Funday Cup in May 2011.

A bottle club meet the last Wednesday of each month, so if you've got an interesting bottle you would like to know a bit more about, why not take it to them to see if you've got a Codds Wallop or just something fit for recycling?

The Buswell family have taken over ownership of the Hare & Hounds from Admiral Taverns the brewery that owned it before.

The really good news is you'll still see the same familiar, friendly faces behind the bar! And Dave is determined to make improvements to make it a real community pub - so why not pop in and support your local?

Now it is a freehouse, they are no longer restricted to selling what the brewery could supply, so if you have a favourite tipple have a word with the barstaff and they will see if they can meet your needs.
