At the last meeting of the Withington & District WI, held on 14 March, there were approximately 30 ladies present with a few apologies due to holidays.

A talk was given by Mrs Catherine Galliers on Patchwork Quilting and Applique.  She brought along a vast amount of her work and explained all about quilting and appliqué. Everyone found this most interesting and her work was beautiful to see.  The competition was “a thimble” with Alyson Evans coming first, Janis Gwynn 2nd and Kath Buckley 3rd.

A “Sit & Sew” will be held for members on the 30th April and 21st May between 10 am and 3pm in the Parish Room, Withington. These sessions will be under the expert guidance of our very own Liz Tudor.  Refreshments will be provided. For further information please ring Kath Neville.

The next meeting of Withington & District WI will be held on 4th April at 7.30 in the Parish Room, Withington.  If you are interested in joining or would like to come along just to see what it is all about, you will be made very welcome.  The speaker will be Mr Ken Arch who will be telling us all about “Growing Fuchsia for Pleasure” and the competition will be 3 cup cakes.  As usual, a supper of sandwiches, cakes and tea will be provided. Always well worth coming for!!

If you would like more information about joining the WI, please contact our President Mrs Kath Neville on Shrewsbury (01743) 351602.  We do hope you will come and join us.

Withington & District Women's Institute held their last meeting on 14th February when approximately 30 members were welcomed by Kath Neville, President.  The Guest Speaker was Megan Morris Jones from Cuan House Wildlife Rescue.  She went into great detaill about the work she is involved in, using a vast number of slides showing  wildlife, which she and her team had rescued, nursed  and eventually returned to the wild. Everyone found this most interesting and enlightening. This was followed by a lovely supper, competition and raffle.
