Withington Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Monday 4th June 2012

A fun-filled day has been planned for all, come rain or shine, brollies or parasols, wellies or sandals, sou’westers or sunhats, come and enjoy the fun!
 
All events take place on Withington’s Village Green, in the afternoon from 12.30-16.00 and again in the evening from 19.30-23.00. Please note timings are approximate.

Afternoon Events

12.30: Grand Opening
 
With a VIP guest to be announced, featuring a Decorated Pony and Trap and Fancy-Dress parade followed by presentation of prizes.
  
Throughout the afternoon…
  • BBQ
  • Vintage Machinery Display
  • Treasure Hunt (around the village)
  • Roo Racing (open to all –have a go)
  • Bouncy Castle
  • Craft stall
  • Face painting
  • Jubilee Stall – get your flags, souvenir mugs, raffle tickets etc
  • Commemorative Display from Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee to more recent times
  • Football and Sports Competitions
A bar will be open 12.30-16.30pm
 
15.00pm onwards
  • Teas and Children’s tea party (courtesy of the WI)

15.45 Planting of the Village Oak Tree on the Green

  • Burying of the Time Capsule
  • Drawing of the raffle
  • VIP presentation of prizes

Evening Events

From 19.30pm “Bring Your Own” Village Supper
  • Bar
  • Live Band, 20.00-21.15
  • Proms on the Green, 21.30-22.00

22.10 The National Anthem

  • Followed by a Spectacular Lighting of the Official Jubilee Beacon at 22.15
  • Fireworks Display
